Diagnostic Guide

Shore Power Not Working at the Slip

Shore power problems usually trace to one of three places: the dock, the cord, or the boat.

Shore power problems usually trace to one of three places: the dock, the cord, or the boat.

What to Check

1

Test the dock receptacle

Some marina pedestals have GFCI breakers that trip. Reset and test.

2

Test the cord

Burnt or melted ends are common. Visible damage = replace, don't repair.

3

Check the boat's main breaker

Often tripped, often forgotten.

4

Test polarity and ground

Reverse polarity on dock side will trip the boat's safety devices.

When to Call Us

If basic checks don't fix it, you may have a galvanic isolator failure, ELCI trip, or wiring problem. We diagnose and repair properly.
