Engine Compartment Blower Not Working

On a gas-powered boat, the blower is a safety device — fuel vapors in the bilge plus a spark equals an explosion. If yours doesn't run, fix it before the next start.

What to Check

1

Fuse or breaker

Almost always the first culprit. Check the helm panel and the main DC distribution.

2

Switch failure

Helm switches corrode over time. Test continuity with the switch in the on position.

3

Burned-out motor

Blower motors run wet and die from corrosion. If you hear a hum but no airflow, the motor is seized.

4

Disconnected duct

A blower that runs but moves no air usually has a disconnected or crushed intake hose.

When to Call Us

Never run a gas inboard without a working blower. We carry common motors in the truck and can swap one slip-side.
