A bilge pump that runs all the time means water is coming in faster than the pump can keep up at the float-switch level — or the float switch is stuck.
What to Check
1
Lift the float
If the pump runs only when float is up, water is genuinely accumulating — find the source.
2
Check stuck float
Debris under the float keeps pumps running dry — burns the motor out fast.
3
Trace the source
Shaft seal, AC condensate, rain through hatch, or fresh-water pump leak.
When to Call Us
Get a proper diagnosis before you burn out the pump. We trace the source, fix the leak, and verify the float-switch and pump are working correctly.
